Hi,
I love having Dandeliok Root Roasted tea and lately had the urge to chew on the roots. Are they safe to eat?
Thanks,
Vivi

Hi! I'm not sure if there's a general concensus on this or not but some sources say "Fresh or dried dandelion herb is also used as a mild appetite stimulant, and to improve upset stomach. The root of the dandelion plant may act as a mild laxative and has been used to improve digestion. Preliminary research suggests that dandelion may help improve liver and gallbladder function. But this study was not well designed."

If there were a major problem you'll usually find some debate on the topic but can't see much here. Oxylates should only affect if you eat alot, but not sure how much.

Hi Toby
Every part of a Dandelion can be used except the stem. Do not chew the stem. I have consulted a number of qualified herbalists and they all agree NO STEM.

@Linda forgot to add that Dandelion root is very bitter and your tea blend is the best way to go.

Thanks for the reply.
I've eaten it dry as a snack hehe... or eat it after I drink the tea. Love the roasted smell and the bitterness . But I love bitter tea in general.
